Think I'll be ending my add-ons and might just swap out my sub for credit this month. Still debating on that Patsy Cline...leaning 60/40 to take it right now, but we'll see. Last month was a big month.

You won't regret it. It's in the top 10 of any VMP release overall (Music+Sound+Pressing+Presentation).

Well, it appears I'll be taking a little break from VMP. It was up last month, and I did the one month to make sure to snag Low End Theory. This coming month, just am not feeling any of the ROTM's or swaps. Combined with some of the crazy jazz stuff coming up on pre-order, this might be a good time to take a little break and save some dough. Don't worry VMP, you always find a way of getting my money back in the future.

Yes, Low End Theory is maybe the most satisfying VMP release I've had so far. They knocked it out of the park.

I know there was some question about whether the Johnnie Taylor was a fold down or a copy tape but customer service said the Product team confirmed it was cut from the "original mono tapes"

Fortunately, I did not have any of the issues some were reporting and my copy sounds great. Another winner from RKS and you can’t have too much Lightnin’ Hopkins in your collection.
I would be all over Midnight Marauders and Bizarre Ride, and I imagine a lot of other folks would be, as well. You listening, VMP?

    Aquemeni
, on the other hand, would be a harder sell for me because I have the original and it is fantastic, but I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t fork over money if VMP was somehow able to better it. I suspect that it wouldn’t qualify for RotM given it’s a 3xLP.

Muddy Waters - Fathers and Sons, Classics VOL № C19 — December 2018 is back in town. I did not purchase it, when it was reissued. Is it worth getting that? How is the pressing? Please let me know. Thanks!

I purchased this yesterday after hearing great things about it. I too am interested if anyone in this forum has it and can comment on it.

I really dislike the plastic outer sleeves. If they are going to go through all that effort, why make them so flimsy?

VMP released Lyle Lovett's Joshua Judges Ruth. Sounds pretty good. Pressing quality is meh. I hope they get their new pressing plant on line very soon.

If we got Aquemini, I would imagine it would just be a store drop Exclusive, probably pricey. I'd be in for both if it was RKS cut.

I'm not sure it would beat an original but it would be nice to have a deluxe reissue that sounds great. In the beginning, I always thought the original was AAA and then I started to think that it couldn't be as that wasn't really the way in the 90s. Each time I listen, I go back to thinking it's AAA. I need to really check the scribe and see if it matches Bernie's handwriting. Maybe he cut it? Maybe he didn't. I made sure to grab a second copy when you could still get it for ~$20 on the secondary market. They did take the analog tapes in when mastering though.

Aquemini, sounds as good as almost any release in my 2,000+ records (RL LZ II, One Steps, etc.). It's all different though.

We're getting a AAA Stax release, a AAA Patsy Cline release, and big name titles in Essentials and RHH with Justice's Cross and Pharcyde's Labcabincalifornia. All in pretty darn quality packaging with extra booklets/prints. Not sure what's not to like other than them using GZ to press records (which they won't be doing anymore after they open their new plant this year).

After taking a break from VMP for several months they reeled me back in with The Low End Theory and the members price on Jose Gonzales’ Veneer. Then I swapped out the June offerings for Erykah Badu’s Mama’s Gun....and added the country track for Patsy Cline. Then I jumped in and purchased the overpriced but beautiful James x VMP knife. Sometimes the offerings aren’t to my taste, other times it rains VMP upon my doorstep!

We usually get at least one or two great titles a month, really big name releases pretty frequently in Essentials and Country tracks especially. Rap and Classics are usually deeper/rarer titles from big name artists. Not any other labels out there putting out top notch country and hip-hop reissues like VMP is.

One thing I think everyone pretty much agrees on - VMP does have pretty awesome customer service. You may get a bad record, but everything I’ve experienced (and heard from others) shows that they’re pretty responsive and will get you a new one.

I swapped the June titles out for Johnny Cash's FOLSOM PRISON and Merle Haggard's LONESOME FUGITIVE. Looks like it's a country month for me.

Looking back on my first year with VMP, it's been an eclectic one:

    Al Green- Call Me
    The Doors- s/t mono
    Beverly Glenn-Copeland
    Bill Withers- Justments
Emmylou Harris- Pieces of the Sky
    Enter The Wu-Tang
Coleman Hawkins- The Hawk Flies High
    Usher- Confessions
Freddie King- My Feeling For The Blues
    The Meters- Rejuvenation
    Sigur Rós- Ágaetis Byrjun
    Willie Nelson- Shotgun Willie
    Gram Parsons- Grevious Angel
Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood- Nancy & Lee
Spiritualized- Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space
    John Prine- s/t
King Curtis- Live At Fillmore West
A Tribe Called Quest- The Low End Theory

I'm still waiting for the Grateful Dead box to be repressed. I don't know WHY I didn't get it while it was still available since I don't have any GD on vinyl.

Judging by the recent swaps, is it safe to say that VMP is playing catch up a bit with some represses? You'd never see Cash or Shotgun Willie before.
