Apart from the obvious 2001, Blade Runner,

    Spirited Away

I just love the colour palette & imagery. I find it very pleasing and rather soothing.

Open Range for me, too. Way underrated in my opinion. And I have never seen it at a theatre!

I saw OPEN RANGE at the theatre. WYATT EARP as well. Liked them both. A recent film that was weird but visually 'stunning' was BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW, it's like Kubrick meets Jodorowsky.

    Barry Lyndon.

For me, Kubrick's masterpiece, and the most beautiful movie ever made.

For those with a little a technical knowledge, some scenes were shot with Zeiss f/0.7 50mm lenses made for NASA, with an extremely shallow depth of field, giving this extraordinary ambiance on the scenes lit by candle light. But again, the whole film is a visual feast, a succession of great paintings.

I've recommended it more than a few times.Sci-fi noir?

"Days of Heaven" inspires my visual heart every time I watch it.
"Lawrence of Arabia" showed me the way to compose a shot beautifully in widescreen.
"The Black Stallion" was stunning in both its visuals and in the amazing use of ambient sound.

If only McCabe and Mrs. Miller would get a Blu-ray release. That would make my year.
