Fine video for this recently released Dylan tune.

The next installment of Bob Dylan‘s Bootleg Series includes a batch of previously unreleased recordings he made with Johnny Cash. Dylan previewed the set, entitled Bob Dylan (featuring Johnny Cash) – Travelin’ Thru, 1967 – 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15, by sharing video for his collaboration with Cash on “Wanted Man.”

“Wanted Man (Take 1)” was recorded during a one-day session in 1969 held by Cash and Dylan featuring Carl Perkins on guitar. The track starts with Johnny asking his wife June, “Did you like that?” June responded, “Honey, I didn’t want your train of thought, but be sure that Bob puts the melody for that song, that ‘Wanted Man,’ you forgot the melody.'” Bob and Johnny then perform a version of “Wanted Man” in which Cash struggles to remember the exact lyrics and cracks himself up.

Johnny Cash famously performed “Wanted Man” at San Quentin Prison in 1969.
