While I think the concept is interesting and artistic, he comes across as many "hip" artists do, just plain pretentious.

Yeah, but who was "hip" first - this guy or the White Album? Is it fair to call him pretentious and not the White Album itself? Don't get me wrong, it's my favorite album and think it is modern art. But don't blame the messenger...

    great idea.
you'd either need a really big trust fund or enjoy being amazingly broke

Indeed he would be--Yoko as well of course. Heck they'd all dig it.

At first I thought :wtf:, but after reading the article and listening to the 100x side one I'm going :righton:

In addition to the artwork--the 100 albums recording is pretty astounding. USSR sounds like Paul's double tracked toward the end, Dear Prudence sounds choral and otherworldly--I almost like it better than the original!! Glass Onion sounds a bit like Revolution no. 9, parts of Obla-Di sound like the break in Mr. Kite, Warm Gun is barely discernible--drowning in a sea of white noise. Fascinating stuff.

It's obvious some of these albums must have skipped really badly

Or Blind Man's Movie by Murray Roman, but I don't think there's enough copies out there

I don't care where he got his funding from. And wherever it was it was probably decided by a committee at arms length from the funding source, for good reason.

That's pretty cool; I'd like to be able to read the rest of it.

Well I'm listening to White Album right now and it's always new to me in different ways. I could listen to it every day till the end of time, why not? He's not a nut job just a man of very specific good taste.

And people thought I was bad to have 4 white albums (vinyl). Only 1 is numbered, picked it up in a used shop in the late 80's. As a Beatles Collector, I thought I should have at least 1 numbered copy. USA version, A3,048,632

I just checked, in the 11 copies that I have, none are in the 2,700,000 numbering...

This is a cool project. I like the fact that he says, "The most I’ve paid was $20. The least I’ve paid was $1." He's clearly not jacking up the prices for the copies that people on this forum would want to buy, ha ha.

Parked domains are blocked by my employer's net security "Websense" (I call it web non-sense). As long as I can find the source domain it works.

  21. I guess your employer wants you to work while you are at.....work! I'm self employed, so my employer (me), wants me to visit Hoffman and other music sites several times a day. :tiphat:

On the sound clip: why does the sync drift apart more and more with each track? If they're all the 1st pressing, that shouldn't happen, no? Is it because the turntable speed varies ever so slightly with every play...?

some of the copies are so hosed, they're already skipping during "Back in the USSR," and throughout the rest of the side.

Yep. Some are so bad you'd probably be through the entire first side in about 10 minutes.
