I see them all the time in the marketplace but I don't understand what they are. maybe I don't want to know because it would be something else I would lust for.

Keep in mind, though, that the term target is often misused in this forum to mean any early issue CD. It should only be used to describe early Warner/Elektra/Atlantic discs.

some of them have a different mastering but others share the same mastering as many early cd's,..........so in most cases their value is merely as collectible

A limited and known list that some are determined to complete.

Not explicitly. The best thing to do is study Ralph's website. And then study it some more. And then a little bit more...

    Then repeat.

I don't mean to annoy the regular posters. I've seen some pictures, so I looked though my collection. I assume these are both "target" CDs? What is the significance of a target CD?

The self-titled Fleetwood Mac on the right looks like a very unique mis-press...

  14. Do I have to be the first to come across as the bad guy who picks on newbies and suggest he do a simple search that will net him a wealth of knowledge that we've all shared here countless times over and over again?...I thought so.

  15. Do a search for numerous threads that go into great detail at attempting to address the question you just asked.

Also, I suggest visiting the web site on the following link.

Thanks. I did some searching, but didn't find anything definitive. Based in the reaction, I did more searching. I think I have a basic understanding. I apologize for my apparent waste of bandwidth and resources.

I recently joined this forum and have been researching what master/remasters are best of various groups and performers. The term target or targets kept coming up a good bit in reference to versions of some CD's. Is this something as simple as Target stores had there own CD pressings that they sold, or is it something else? Just curious...

I have seen many for sale items that say they are "target" cd's.

    What does that mean?

The link above will take you to a list of cds put out by WB that have a special design on them...the design looks like a target, hence the name.

Try the search engine for more information on them...there's lots to be found.

An early CD made for the WEA group that featured a coloured design. Many were made by PolyGram/PDO in the former West Germany but some others were done in Japan.
I've PM'd you a couple of useful links as you are a relative newcomer here that might help you.
    Regards,
