There are a lot of greatest hits albums for The Band floating around out there. This one is, by far, my favorite and is one of my favorite overall "greatest hits" albums. The Band ~ The Definitive Collection

The only Pat Benatar album I ever owned was Get Nervous (on a Columbia House cassette). But her 3-disc greatest hits collection - Synchronistic Wanderings - gives me all the Benatar I could ever need (and more!). And it's compactly-designed. And it has a great booklet.
The Sky is Crying – Elmore James Greatest Hits 1&2 – Linda Ronstadt Retrospective – Leon Russell Excello – Slim Harpo Singles Album – Manfred Mann

I want to mention that I like almost every regular studio album from these artists. Nevertheless, such compilations are nice to have for an easy listening session The Beatles - 1962-1966 & 1967-1970 Simon & Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits Queen - Greatest Hits ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits Bruce Springsteen - Greatest Hits Hall & Oates - Rock ‚N‘ Soul Part 1 The Jam - Snap! Dire Straits - Money For Nothing Billy Joel - Greatest Hits Volume 1 & 2 The Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks The Very Best Of Steely Dan History Of The Byrds
The Byrds Greatest Hits...recall how Paul Williams wrote a terrific piece on the record delineating how such a collection can actually create a world of its very own comparable to a 'regular' album of brand-new material.
Growing up as a teenager in the 60’s I needed to stretch my money and greatest hits albums did that. I limited myself to only 60’s era greatest hits. Several members list made me think of these. Gene Pitney’s Greatest Hits Johnny Rivers Golden Hits Temptations Greatest Hits Vol 1 Four Tops Greatest Hits Rolling Stones High Tide and Green Grass The Best of the Animals Bob Dylan Greatest Hits 1967
America - the Definitive America Dionne Warwick - 20 Golden Greats but I think George Michael's Ladies and Gentlemen compilation set a new standard for compilations. If only it had I Want Your Sex part 1, instead of part 2, it would be perfect.
