Mega City Four. Their CD's are eyewateringly expensive these days.

  2. The Police. Give each album its own disc and get out a little unreleased material to fill out the discs, master it nicely and you have an improved version of Message In A Box.

Well, I mean, last year's box sounds alright to these ears, contains a bonus disc and will set you back about 15$.

There are two Hollies Original Album Series sets. Across the two you get their first 10 albums. The first goes from Stay With The Hollies to For Certain Because, the second from Evolution to Confessions of the Mind. The first box is all mono, the second all stereo.

The most recent Original Album Series I've bought is Graham Central Station. Patchy stuff, but the good stuff is great.

5 Disc Original Album Sets are normally just the albums in cheap CD card sleeves and no bonus tracks. At least every one I have ever seen in the past 30 years is that format.

You're asking for a Police super expanded box set of deluxe editions of every album -the nearest equivalent of that that exists is Message In A Box, though you don't seem to like that.

There was another one a few years ago that was a 5-disc set. It includes the S/T; DTK; Destoryer and RARO and for some stupid reason the first volume of the 20th Century Masters comp which is made up of songs from albums already included in this set. I don't know why they felt the need to include a comp in this collection and not Hotter than Hell. Its something that really irks me.

Agreed, ELP and King Crimson have catalogs that I want to collect, but it's a slow process when they are priced seemingly much higher than some other artists in this series. I finally just broke down and bought Court, Wake, and Red for about the cost of 3 of these 5 cd sets...

I do have several with at least some Bonus Tracks.

    Journey
    The Byrds
    ELO
    Heart
    Kansas
    Mountain
    Sly & The Family Stone
    BS&T

Sometimes it's a mix of with and without in the same set IME.

In some cases it's after the fact for me now since I've started to pick them up piecemeal.

    But these would be nice:

    The Move
    The Kinks
    Humble Pie
David Bowie (not the $100 sets)
    Joe Walsh
    James Gang
    Small Faces
    Badfinger
    Thin Lizzy
    Blondie

There are some others that seem to be OOP, that I wish would be revived...

    Some Product
    Flogging A Dead Horse
Sid Sings (or possibly one of the better Pistols live recordings)

Five albums and still 'Satellite' not included. Flogging A Dead Horse would duplicate a lot but also has three of the four essential B-sides.

I get the impression that these sets are released when bands back catalogue sales slow down. I can't imagine we'd ever get a Bowie one, or the likes of The Smiths and The Cure. Some good suggestions there though. Blondie's first five covers all the essentials. Lizzy from Nightlife to Black Rose would be a superb set of their peak era albums.
