Although he made a joke of it by saying at the outset that it was a very special night since it would be both the opening and closing night of the tour it was very sad that the other concerts had to be cancelled due to poor sales. Small venue, the now defunct Mean Fiddler downstairs space on Charing Cross Road (London), but an enthusiastic crowd enjoyed a very good evening of Woolly/BJH music. Strange to know that someone superficially so confidence and jokey could have those dark demons inside him.

I attended the first of Billy Joel's two nights at Yankee Stadium back in the very early summer of '90. To the best of my knowledge, those were the first ever rock concerts at Yankee Stadium. It wasn't a live album per se (so perhaps I'm cheating here) but it was a home video.

That stray tracks thing is not an entire live show though. I feel like you either saw the entire live performance in its entirety over one night or multiple that was a sold to the public as an official live release.

Bands like Pearl Jam that claim 405 live shows don’t have 405 live official releases. They’ve got 15 live official releases to say you either were in attendance or not.

Live Phish 20 I personally would consider an official live album as was Hampton Box Set. So that’s pretty cool.

I'm confused. PJ has put out official versions of way more than 15 shows.

Even if you only wanted to count physical media available in stores, they released more than 15 shows from 2000 alone.

So I don't get your point!

After Black Sabbath - The Dio Years came out, they toured in 2007 as Heaven & Hell. We took a shot and went to the box office at Radio City on the night of the show to see if they were releasing tickets at the door. Sure enough, we got great seats right up front. Much later, we realized they must have wanted to ensure no empty seats in the first few rows because they were shooting video and recording audio for an official release.

I was so glad to see and hear the great Ronnie James Dio with most of Sabbath up close and personal. The show was ultimately released on DVD and 2 CD's as Heaven & Hell - Live from Radio City Music Hall.

The Foetus/Lydia Lunch show in Brooklyn that was released as York. (Jim Thirlwell signed my copy of Marx's Capital afterwards.)

I've also been at a Heaven 17 show at Sound Republic, London that was the source of the video enhanced tracks on the How Live Is CD, and the 1993 New Order show in Dallas, TX that included the live version of 'World (The Price of Love)' on Retro.
