I got The Proposition from Amazonia for $6.99 . That's about a buck and a half more than I could rent it for at Blockbuster.

Picked up a used Bourne Trilogy Blu for $32.40 using a 40% off used coupon at the local FYE. Also got a used Zack & Miri Do A Porno Blu for under $10 at the same store.

At Target picked up the Blu-ray Something Something Dark Side (or whatever it's called) for $11.99 using a store coupon and manufacturer coupon (see high def digest forum). Beware... this disk plays for something like 22 minutes so even $11.99 isn't that good of a deal.

I plan to return Boogie Nights and buy it later, and not from Best Buy at their high price.

I actually had to search the web to find instructions on how to open the Bourne Trilogy Blu box. That's a strange one to open. Mr. Bourne is magnetized. Something they wouldn't have wanted to do back in the VHS days. Each movie is packaged the same as if it was sold separately so you don't really need to keep the box, but it's handy.

Unlike the HD DVDs which were usually free with a player purchase, all 3 of these have lossless sound. I unloaded the HD DVDs together for a bit over $15.

I got the Band Of Brothers box, again, for Christmas. I wish my relatives would just give me gift certificates. In recent years, none of 'em have given me a home video that I didn't already have.

Give them credit for what you have and exchange theirs for what you want.:righton:

Sukiyaki Western Django. Takashi Miike does a western. Another quirky movie from the man with an original take on how to make them.

  17. The same thing happens to me every year. This Christmas was no difference. I just return them to Best Buy unopened and get store credit.

My issue is I recived a couple of TV box sets (24 Season 7, Lost Season 5) but on standard DVD.
My preference would have been Blu-Ray, especially Lost.
With the way my wife's family is it will be awkward to return them. I think I know where they were purchased.
I'm hoping the store will let me upgrade to BD without a sales receipt.

Yea, I was just at Best Buy and they said they don't even care what store the items came from and no receipt is required. Too bad I opened that Prisoner box set I bought on line.

I'm going to return a sealed Brokeback Mountain HD DVD and see what happens. It's on their website at $24.99.

The only return BB would accept was The Proposal (which came from Target). They rejected all the others claiming they were not items stocked in stores anymore, including the Doors Perception box. Oh well. Could have been a nice score.

  21. Man you folks have nicer folks working at your Best Buy than mine. They rarely if ever will accept returns w/o a receipt for an exchange.

Repulsion - It may be a great movie and PQ & SQ are good but I can't envision watching this one very often.
