Poppycock. I got 8 12" long stroke bass in ported subwoofers (-1dB @ 16dB) for everything under 80hz. I get, without any problem, over 125dB at listning position. My friend got 16 of the same 12" long stroke bass. So they deliever.
The ANs are going back. I found out the "demos" have ~1000 hrs. on them and will not be breaking in any more. The occasionally sibilant treble is a deal breaker. Too bad, they did so much well, just not enough.
I was looking at a very good used set, decent price. I would have had to drive almost 10 hours because the seller wouldn't ship.
@avanti1960 Please try some DeVore O/96s or O/93s, if you can swing them. I really think you’ll be satisfied. Just also get some Auditorium 23 speaker cables.
Oh and I think we need some new ground rules for your next review. Lol when you get these new speakers… DONT say a word on here Listen to them for a month or however long it takes to make a decision THEN post it on here so none of us freaks will influence your decision during the review. well…unless you want to watch all of us get into a tizzy. Which is kinda fun as well. Ha Messin man Messin. But couldn’t help it.
Another speaker you should look into is the Graham LS5/8. The sensitivity is 89db but I’d bet that’s an honest rating and is probably enough. Derek Hughes doesn’t put his name behind poor measuring speakers.
These days I’m wary of soft-dome tweeters. So many of them are more offensive and fatiguing than even mid-tier metal domes. I suspect it has something to do with their breakup peaks occurring within the audible band.
Yep never "settle"....the right speaker will make 99% of your music sound good.Enjoy the hunt my friend
