And since the South was the birthplace of virtually every popular American musical genre until the birth of Rap, that would make even more sense! Country, Folk, Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, R&B, Soul, Funk & Rock & Roll all originated in the southern US or was created by artists from there.

Maybe this is a bad time to tell you this......

 

Yeah, I am darn proud to be from the South. (Some) people are trying very hard to change it and make it like every other part of the world, but the South has a proud musical and cultural heritage you won't find anywhere else. Sure the South has it's share of problems, but in my lifetime (I'm 43) I have seen the South f.l.o.o.d.e.d. by people from other parts of the country and world, and places like my hometown have really gone downhill as a result of over-populating.

 

At some point, they would have found Jesus, rejected their earlier songs and become annoyingly preachy.
