Not at all, don’t misquote me. I listen to every cassette I own and listen to cassettes every day. I have a cassette player in my car and a Walkman. But enjoying music goes beyond just hearing fluctuating airwaves

Ok and you have fun listening to your $50 cassette tapes. Hope there's not too much wow and flutter and tape hiss on them!:pineapple:

This comment pretty much proves that this is a troll thread.

It's currently resting comfortably on a low shelf collecting dust and cat fur. I've still got a few cassettes. One of these days I just might dust it off, plug it in and play something.

I'm with you, Rocky's Owner! If there were a slogan for that format, it should be: "Cassettes: Because We Didn't Know Any Better."

I couldn't wait to throw my tapes in the bin when CDs came along.

I traded in all mine in the late 80s when I moved to CD. At least they were still worth something then. I could never imagine going back to that inferior format.

Yes, a number of very good cassette decks have come out this past year.

Reel-to-reel was one of (if not the) top audiophile format in the 60s. If you wanted the best, that's what you got. Play that through a beautiful tube amp, heavenly.

I prefer CDs but I love collecting cassettes too. They fit so nicely in your hand! And I love the elongated album artwork

It should be mentioned at this point that there's a truly great Vietnamese restaurant called Viet Noodle Bar a few doors from the hipster Atwater Village record store (Jacknife) on Glendale Blvd. So the pain of seeing cassettes but no CDs can be lessened with my favorite, rice noodles with spicy chicken meatballs. And of course the iced coffee.

When I moved 10 years ago I threw out about 500 cassettes. Didn’t see any reason to hold on to them.

Also, CDs have been around for SO long that they don't have that "intentionally anachronistic" vibe that gets people to buy cassettes.
Even though CD sales have been declining since 2001, they were still selling very well until a few years ago.
While cassette sales have been dead since 2004 or so.

You could have sold them. I'm in a cassette collector group on facebook and people buy cassettes for 3-5 dollars each

It’s so funny when people think because they wouldn’t spend money on something that it’s worthless. That’s what causes Beatles LPs to get donated to goodwill by ignorant old people

At the time there was no interest. Just this year somebody bought the rights to reissue a cassette I released in 1985. I was shocked.

That makes more sense, apologies if my last post seemed pointed at you.
What was the title, if you don’t mind saying?

What is it with young people doing things I dont understand and find odd? Why don't they do what I did when I was that age? Kids today!

When I worked in a record store all the most colorful characters were the people that exclusively shopped in the .25 cent cassette bins. They were referred to as "bottom-feeders" by the manager. I remember one time I kicked a guy out for doing something rude and told him he couldn't come back. He came back in a few days later, and before I could notice him, he took his .25 cent tape purchases and quickly walked up to the counter, then threw his change on the counter to pay for the tapes, and quickly ran out of the store! Hilarious.
