In 1970 the first Classical LP I ever bought, unheard and based on a review in a stereo magazine (Stereo Review, I think). The sound was fantastic and the music was strange and drew me right in. Because it was Classical my parents offered to pay for it. When they heard it they regretted it, like I'd made a big mistake and wasted their $3.99. I still have the LP. Would make a great SACD, IMO.

Gotta love the audaciousness of a pick that includes "Billy Don't Be A Hero"

It's usually an event when I listen to it. I can't necessarily say that for most of the other albums so it kind of falls in a unique place in my collection.

Plus I think it's awesome of course.

When I think "all time favorite," I think of an album that's been cherished for years. The Beatles White Album has to be it. So many years on my list, so many nights as a kid falling asleep with this on the turntable.

Band On The Run, the first proper album I ever bought, which was the 1999 25 Anniversary Edition. Maybe not a deep, or statement type album, but the melodies, the vocals, the playing, and the sense of escape that flows through the album are just perfect. It was the album that started my love of music, I remember being 15 years old and driving around blasting the album out of my car, I have a lot of great memories associated with this album.

I'd have to say Blonde on Blonde after 50 years (in a week or two) of listening to it.
    And Beggar's Banquet through Exile.
