For example, from a cd transport to a DSP room correction device like a Dspeaker unit and then the digital signal is sent to a DAC and finally to a preamp. Wondering what the negatives might be. Any thoughts appreciated.

  2. Assuming you like whatever effect the other devices apply to the signal (and that it stays in the digital realm until the last device does a d/a conversion), no harm that I can see.

Yeah, it should be fine, though of course the DSP will affect the sound as designed. Now, it's possible you could contract digititis, and want to start independently DSPing each driver with individual amps...

Thinking along these lines ... Using a dac with plenty of inputs and going digital into another one (because this only has one or two digital inputs) would have no negative effect soundwise?
