Fine album , great sound (I disliked AJFA due to production ) , some top notch songs, but a little too long. That album was the one where I stepped into Metallica and after a while I drove back to the their 80’s work ....

The drum sound is really awful.

Wouldn’t that be an answer to What’s Wrong with ...And Justice For All?

I don’t find Of Wolf and Man to be weak at all! It’s my favorite song on the album.

Back in Black has a fantastic drum sound. The Black Album's is atrocious even though Lars managed to find ways to sound even worse later on. I might like Metallica more if they had a decent rhythm section.

"Of Wolf of Man" isn't anybody's favorite song. Don't troll.

If Holier than Thou was the first track (and single) as even Bob Rock wanted (with “better” lyrics), then I think it would have been heralded a bit more by OG fans; nonetheless, it was EXTREMELY polished compared to the former albums.

Bob Rock both made it and ruined it at the same time.

Nothing Else Matters never should have been on it methinks, but alas..

We changed the dogs food out today and he is sleeping not to far off ripping some of the
Ranked gas you all ever sniffed. Now if I could only think of an analogy for this album.

I just picked up a Venezuelan LP pressing. From what I can tell, it's the only one of its kind: a single LP. I wonder what kinds of edits were carried out. Waiting to get home to find out.

One of my top 5 favourite albums of all time and I'm not even a big Metallica fan.

It's fine there are a few good songs on it. Hasn't aged well I guess. Enter Sandman is fairly terrible though.

I think Load is way more underappreciated than the Black album though and equally as good.

It didn’t sound like Metallica. The fast intricate, multi part songs had basically gone. Which is not to say that there aren’t good songs on it. AJFA seemed like another step forward as ever album before had, this record was a side step. They tried to do something rather than do what came naturally. The muse never returned.

I still don't own it. For me it represents the moment they lost the magic.

Meh. It's their best album by a country mile.

Nothing. Metallica or Black Album whatever you call it is an incredible album.

. . . or maybe they were just easing people up for their next (1996) masterpiece.
