Frank Zappa "I'm the slime" from "Overnight Sensation". Written nearly 50 years ago, and even more accurate now than it was then.

Maybe Channel Z by B-52s. First good one that came to mind, after immediately dismissing TV Talking Song by Dylan.

Just a couple of lines from Dramarama's "Last Cigarette":

"Check the sports and weather and the living and the dead.
You don't have to hear the headlines, you can hear what Johnny Carson said."

First heard this by Manhattan Transfer, on the same album which has their "Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone" single.
In their version, it's about overdosing on the idiot box.

    Kingston Trio did the original.

Otherwise, I'd have to agree with the OP on "I'm The Slime". Indeed, when I saw Zappa on SNL do this with Don Pardo himself, I was in school, studying...television.
