I'm going to see Charlie in a couple of weeks (for free) at the 2022 Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana. It'll be the first time back in 2 years due to the pandemic. It's always 100% free.
Spinning more Hooker tunes this evening. John Lee Hooker - Don't Turn Me From Your Door (London Records/UK 1963) mono
I am committing a sin (only in my opinion) of posting the same thing in multiple threads... Buddy Guy – The Blues Don't Lie Label: Silvertone Records – none Format: 16 x File, ALAC, Album Country: US Released: Sep 30, 2022 Genre: Blues Style: Chicago Blues This is a solid new album by Buddy...
My morning music was.......... Lovely 1971 Albert King US STAX Cat: STS-2040 Sure there's Albert solos but this is chilled, in the pocket and also rhythmically relentless! Having folk like Jim Keltner, Jesse Ed Davis, Donald Duck Dunn & Wayne Perkins on board it is hardly surprising.
Now Playing Drowning On Dry Land from....... Years Gone By 1969 Albert King US STAX Cat: STS 2010 Albert's Killing Floor is sublime and then there's You Threw Your Love On Me Too Strong and The Sky Is Crying as further highlights on this fine Al Jackson Jnr production.

Love Going Down and Palace Of The King and the rest of the LP having the 1st Japanese pressing from 1973.
Wednesday Night In San Francisco 1990 Albert King UK Stax/Fantasy CD Recorded Fillmore West 26th June 1968 Part of the run of shows that gave us the famous Live Wire Blues Power LP in 1968 and now 22 years on the tapes are mined for more selections (across 2 new long players) due to the fame of the original album!
good to see the mr. king tracks etc mentioned. his "born under a bad sign" LP was one of three lp's given me on my 10th b'day. i been down ever since i was ten. that ain't no lie.
That is very possibly my favourite Albert King track, the opening notes automatically put a gleeful smile on my face no matter my mood. The funky remake issued in '74 is killer too, may God bless Al Jackson Jnr!
Jammed Together 1969 Albert King, Pops Staples, Steve Cropper Japanese White Label Promo Stax Cat: MW-1009 Gatefold Jacket Doesn't seem to be an original Japanese copy on Discogs and certainly no WLP.
