I've been quite slow with Vinyl this year, mostly because of the COVID-19 pandemic but also because I've moved into more of a video phase. That said before the pandemic I preordered a couple of albums and they eventually came out and arrived. The Rise of Skywalker and Gigaton by Pearl Jam, I haven't listened to Gigaton yet as I'm not really a Pearl Jam fan. I liked the look of the album art and they've got a good reputation as a bad as far as I'm aware so I decided I might check it out. As for Rise of Skywalker, I have found that the J.J. films have slightly more bland scores compared to The Last Jedi but I think The Rise of Skywalker was a good listen even though it needs a thorough clean because it's filled with dust or something.
Working at home, not spending money on gas, dry cleaning and food out, I have found myself buying lots of vinyl online over the last couple of months during the pandemic: Sea Level S/T, used (Discogs seller, took the guy a couple of weeks to ship due to scaled back operations and delays in early stages of the pandemic). my college roomie had this record, and have always loved it, but for some unknown reason, had not bought this one. Probably my favorite Sea Level record. Jason Isbell, Here We Rest (local record store). one of my favorite Isbell records Jason Isbell, Something More Than Free (Amazon seller had the item on backorder, then shipped the wrong record, but quickly re-shipped to fulfill the order). This one was my introduction to Isbell back when it was released, and it, along with Southeastern, remain among my favorites. Jason Isbell, Reunions (Tower Records). this one is getting lots of play. love this record! Tom Waits, Closing Time - (local record store). An amazing record. Highly recommend Townes Van Zandt S/T 50th Anniversary reissue (local record store). enjoying this, a great addition. Delaney and Bonnie - Home (Tower Records). love this old school R&B, Staxx records sound Delaney and Bonnie - To Bonnie from Delaney - Speakers Corner remaster. not loving this one, but it is growing on me a bit. need to give it a few more spins. Carly Simon, No Secrets - Speakers Corner remaster. worth it for the cover alone, and sounds great, to boot. On order: Doobie Brothers - The Captain and Me -Speakers Corner. can’t wait to get this one Black Keys, Let’s Rock (local record store). One of my favorites from 2019 Townes Van Zandt, Live At the Old Quarter ( local record store).
Wand - Laughing Matter (curbside buy) And I've had the Christine and the Queens EP on pre-order (LP), might be coming in a week or two.
The last one I have is a Dion hits collection. Last one ordered is Bob Dylan's forthcoming album. I've just got a cheap player but it's one of my favourite things.
I received a British export Hey Jude album today with the Paper Back Writer label misprint. It does sound very good.
