Multiple record "players" including a Radio Shack blue plastic model from 1975, a Fisher Price model with the filmstrip internal unit (forget what it was) also a fold down model similar to the one our host had, likely Sears? An Emerson "all in one", replaced by an Onkyo belt drive model by age 14, then a Bang And Olufsen Beogram 5773 (first eBay, when eBay was young) age 25, then a Rega Planar 3 ,(age 35?) And now a VPI Scout. I'm now 50. The lesson here kiddies is, when you turn 25 and you believe you're going to listen to records until you're dead, please don't mess around. Get a really, really decent turntable that will survive your life and the changes between carts and simple upgrades. None since the VPI could do that. Huge lesson.

In the early 80's while in senior high school I bought my first real stereo. I was pretty keen so it was fronted by a second hand Thorens 165 and I put a sweet Adcom HOMC on it. I had put together a kickass "nearfield" bedroom setup with a Quad 33/303, a kit pair of LS3/5As a DIY electronic crossover, and a powered subwoofer I built in high school electronics and wood shop classes! A few years later with funds from my first full-time job I bought a second hand original (pre-Delphi) Oracle with a Magnepan Unitrac tonearm onto which I transferred the aforementioned Adcom MC. Another year or two passed and the Oracle went back to the Mothership and was upgraded to Delphi II. I fitted a sweet Syrinx PU3 tonearm and first a Koetsu Black, but then exchanged it almost immediately for a Rosewood. Enjoyed this setup a lot but sold it off along with all my hifi gear in the late 80's. Got back into hi-end audio in '94, initially with a digital source but missed vinyl. In '96 I bought an elderly buddy's Grado equipped Ariston RD11s and his amazing Classical LP collection for peanuts. Added a Sonic Frontiers SFP-1 phonostage and I was back into vinyl after almost a decade without- YAY! Unfortunately the Ariston was good but not great. I missed having a really great turntable... In '99 I bought a new Oracle Delphi V with Oracle branded SME 309 and an improved ARC PH3 phonostage. After trying to like a Benz Glider, I switched to a Benz Ref MC forthwith and rediscovered vinyl nirvana. In 2002 I part-exchanged my SME 309 and a fat wad' o' cash for a SME V tonearm. More gooder! In 2003 I bought an Oracle Alexandria II, updated the sagging subchassis to the current CNC milled replacement, and bolted on a Madrigal Carnegie so my latest wife could spin her own record collection. In 2019 I bought a Benz LP-S to replace the now tired Benz Ref.

Interesting. Do you like the Garrard more than the Brinkmann, and if you do, what qualities are better?
Marantz (Don't remember model number in the early 80's) Sold it and my LPs, when CDs came out. Dual 505 (Bought it about 2 years ago, that I only play for ****s & giggles) I could include my parents floor model stereo system. (Don't remember the brand)

I've only had two turntables , both an Ariston RD40 bought new in the mid 80's and a similiar era Rega3 which was my brothers originally . Both these decks were unloaded a few weeks ago in anticipation of getting something new . Obviously with the current situation , it's sit back and wait.

I am not quite sure what you meant here. I am guessing you meant my music. In that case the answer is...When I got into CDs and stopped playing records, I filled 4 U-Haul record boxes with my LPs and stored them in a closet in an air conditioned house. My intent was to sell off my albums, something I never got around to doing. Twenty years later when my brother convinced me I should return to vinyl, the LP's were in good shape. I had always upgraded the stylus on the BSR's from to the best Shure cartridge they could handle. I used a Discwasher on them and had a tone arm style record brush that swept the records ahead of the stylus. In February of 2018 I originally ordered a ClearAudio Concept Active which was hopelessly backordered. I gave up in October 2018 and got the EAT C-Sharp. In the 9 months I was waiting I went on a record buying binge. I had forgotten how fun it was to shop for records. I bought a mix of new and used. The new rock albums were mostly items I did not already have and were re-issues. I bought used when I was buying an LP I didn't own, that didn't have a reissue. I had also gotten into jazz and it was a mix of reissues and used. Lately I have been buying less, but getting audiophile pressings which sound incredible on my new system.
