And this was one of the last times they were almost completely clean shaven. One of the only threads we may not have gotten to yet concerning the break up is whether it was because of increased facial hair

Second time in three minutes that you posted about how much money they made.

Struggling to understand what that has to do with being happy.

I believe they were VERY happy...they were always busy having fun, making music, buying things, everything you and I can only imagine...Everyone kissed their butts, they were KINGS...simple... there was no time for unhappiness ...this is my opinion nothing more...

"Mo money...Mo problems". It's only ever about the money UNTIL you get some. Then it becomes about EVERYTHING else, except the money, once you have a bit of it.
This phenomena has been well documented.

    I will say this
All the press about how The White Album had such tension and everyone working on their own in various Abbey Road studios..

Then you hear the Escher tapes where the group in unison is playing those individual tracks and having plenty of laughs

The February 1968 sessions that produced Lady Madonna, Hey Bulldog and Across The Universe, though Lennon later complained of ‘sabotage’.

They appeared more contented than they were during ‘67 because Lennon’s LSD use made him passive and less competitive with Macca, who was quietly assuming the leadership role.

My guess it was the week that Ringo joined the band. The albatross that was Pete Best was finally off their neck, they had a recording contract, and they had just put the dungeon called the Cavern Club in their rear view mirror. I think you could safely say that there were a lot of hassles ahead of them. But that week, bliss.

I think John and George were happier not touring all the time. Afterwards, George toured America in 74 and Japan in 91. John was live in NY. Paul needed touring more than the others. He was a showman at heart. He wore it well. I think the others enjoyed doing smaller venues more. Once they were famous, the screaming started. George tired if it first, then he kind of convinced the others. In those days it had to be unanimous or it didn't happen.
Funny though, George was quoted as saying after their last show in San Francisco. "That's it. I'm not a Beatles anymore. "
On the surface, that comment seems shortsighted, but I think he was happy to put away the constant running about like they did in A Hard Day's Night. He was ready to move on into the next phase. They all were in need of a rest. Running around being Beatles 24/7 was a dead end. They needed a change, what a change they did.

They must've been happy when John, George and Paul lined up and laid down the triple guitar solos in The End. John told Yoko he had to go in and do it without her there, so it would be just the lads together again, one last time. It is probably their finest moment as a Rock band on record. Well, at least it is one of their finer moments, and it is a great way to close out the decade of the 196Os and their phenomenal career as a band.

Yea, an Excellent post by @linklinc ...

I get the impression that the break up was just an inevitability.
They didn't know where to go as the Beatles anymore.
Let It Be is a fine album, but they were growing more musically separate from The White Album days.
Essentially they just knew how to write well, and make the albums work really well.
If not for the outside influences that were causing some friction, they could well have had a 2 or 3 year break and made music together again.. . But even if they had it would never have been the same.

I actually feel it's more the other way round. The original Let It Be movie comes off as a depressing tabloid swipe.
I hope the Jackson version is more balanced, as the original was, in my opinion, deliberately edited as a break up movie

There's a part in this clip that's great and very telling and it occurs right around the time of this picture.
Everyone is singing the " nah nah nah nah nah nah nah "bit and Lennon is digging the guy's singing on his right and pushes the mic towards him.
You wouldn't see McCartney doing that.
