Power strip is on a different receptacle, but is it on a different branch circuit or the same as the fridge? Find the circuit breaker in the electrical panel and turn it off. Check if both the fridge and power strip are dead.

Does the power strip have an SPD, (Surge Protection Device)? If yes is it working, still good?
How old is the SPD? Does it meet the latest UL 1449 3rd addition electrical standards?

You said you have an HT system, as in a multi channel amp, or multi channel receiver? CATV as well? Does the TV video runs through the multi channel HT unit? If yes it could be the HT that is causing the video to drop out on the TV. It could also be the TV.

If the drop out is caused from VD, (Voltage Drop), on the mains you should be able to see that by plugging a table lamp into the plug strip. You will need an incandescent light bulb. Remove the lamp shade so you can see the bulb better. A 60 watt bulb will work fine. If there is VD on the branch circuit feeding the power strip the light bulb will quickly, briefly, dim when the compressor of the fridge starts.

JMHO, I think your problem is more than likely due to a transient voltage spike that is happening when the thermostat switch turns on the fridge compressor.

If the start of the fridge compressor is sending a transient voltage spike out on the branch you might see a really quick flicker of the light bulb. You may not see it but the bulb should get brighter not dimmer. The event will happen in less than a blink of an eye.

If the problem is due to a transient voltage spike you might try also installing a plug in SPD into the wall outlet the fridge is plugged into. Plug the fridge into the SPD outlet.

Clearly the answer is to ditch the fridge and switch to bourbon. :D
