Hello everyone, I’m trying to thin out my record collection as I am running out of space for my collection. I’ve decided to sell records that I haven’t listened to for many years and know I will not listen to them again as well some records that are duplicated (frustratingly, by mistake). Some are only worth a few dollars and some are $20-$50 according to Discogs. Some are still sealed. I don’t mind selling at a discount, but I had called a local record shop and was told they typically pay .50 cents per record, even if it’s worth $40-$50. I have plenty that I’d sell for a few dollars, but .50 for a record that is sealed and the median price on Discogs is $40. That’s something that I do not want to do. I have many other records that are worth more than $50, for those, I don’t mind selling individually on eBay or Discogs. So. If anyone knows a place on Long Island that will pay a fair price, albeit a discounted price, please let me know. Thank you. ,
Try these: Looney Tunes in West Babylon or High Fidelity in Amityville. You can also try Record Stop in Patchogue.
I’ve never sold anything on this forum. Do you know if there are protections for the seller like there are on Discogs and eBay? Thanks
Hey Exile...is Record Stop the same store that was in Ronkokoma many years ago then relocated to Shirley ?
You could call and see if there are any seller tables available here The Long Island Music Lover's Faire Record & CD Show Massapequa Pay cheap rent for one table. It's one day. It's easy. As fresh meat, you'll be set upon by the other dealers before the show opens, and then will have a good time all day. Many will pay in cash (that's seller protection for you). No commissions. You can take Paypal there with your phone.
I’m from Long Island but usually hauled them down to the Princeton Record Exchange in New Jersey! They were easier to deal with than the Long Island stores. But if you prefer the Island…. On Long Island try Mr Cheapo in Mineola or Commack
Here's another one that's next week Facebook link These things all sold out near me early this year, but you might luck out or someone may have cancelled.
Massapequa Record Show.....they'll be fighting for you stuff.....beats getting hosed at a record store. Wait for a cancel.
you can do a google search and there you will get some listing you can contact them that I want to sell my records
As soon as I read the first post I had a feeling you were talking about Cheapos. Definitely check out High Fidelity in Amityville. Marc pays top dollar for used records and runs a great little shop.
I second that; I’ve sold/traded in records to a few shops in the area and Marc is by far the most generous. I first discovered High Fidelity in ‘09 or so at the previous location..I visit other places but HF is basically my go-to.
