The butchered US cinematic version of the normal cut?

Many years ago I watched Freddy Got Fingered and got to a scene involving, if I remember rightly, a dead moose on the road and didn't get any further.

More recently I tried watching Dario Argento's Dracula and only got about 15 minutes in before the combination of p!ss poor acting and p!ss poor CGI became too much.

That one isn't surprising... I'm a big Argento fan but Dracula is possibly his worst film. Nearly unwatchable.

Possibly watching it in 3D might have helped to overlook its, er, imperfections but 'flat' it was bad - on par with The Mother of Tears level of dreadfulness..

Probably closer to 30 minutes, but "The Black Phone." Just laughably bad in every aspect.

Put aside the ridiculousness of the beginning plot and how f*****g old Bill Haley looks, it's a male sex cartoon. The blatantly stupid and sexist actions of the two main characters over and over got to me. I thought this would be a fun nostalgia ride but it was cringy. The main plot point early in the film is the older manager character - who is the main protaganist of the movie by the way - decides the way to pry Bill Haley out of the town he's in is to romance the much younger female manager of Bill Haley's band and then steal the band from her when she is starry eyed in love. I bailed.

Trust me when I say this, he is MUCH older than the younger woman - not William Frawley I love Lucy old, but maybe more Fred MacMurray old. They are not close in age at all. The fantasy that she would go with him to the lake for a romantic day is insulting.

I was also hoping this was the movie with Little Richard - it's not.

I quickly abandoned Life. It started out OK but appeared to be another monster-in-a-spaceship Alien plot. What really annoyed me was that Jake Gylenhaal was supposed to be playing a well-trained and highly educated astronaut but he ran around screaming like a lunatic whenever something unexpected happened.

    Oh! I quite liked 'Life'.
Some good unexpected twists and a real horrific ending.

So you start watching a movie that is clearly advertised as a Marvel Comics product and then go 'Oh no, this is another superhero comic book movie, I'm so disappointed!' and then turn it off? Over 20 times now?

Yeah, not sure I even lasted 15 mins.

    Same with:
    Murder Mystery 2 (2023)
    The Grey Man (2022)
    Wild Canaries (2014)
    The Avengers (2012)
    Before Sunrise (1995)

Films I turned off at the halfway mark:
    Amsterdam (2022)
Everything Everywhere all at Once (2022)

I wish the astronauts had acted professionally (like in Alien) instead of running around screaming the f-word. It immediately smacked of lazy writing to me.

Oh, I don't know about that.
They are in an unbelievably bad situation
Who is going to stand there saying : " Well, as you can see, things aren't going according to plan. Any suggestions as to what we can or should do in regards to eliminating this alien life form which seems intent on killing us all?" ?

I can see where some screaming and yelling would be quite in order.

Remember in Apollo 13 when the oxygen tank exploded and Jim Lovell ran around screaming, "What the **** was that??? What the **** was that??? What was that ****ing noise??? Someone ****ing tell me!!!!"

    I don't either.

Forgive me if I mentioned this already, but it took me three tries to get through Fast & Furious 9. I almost left, got into my car, and skeedaddled when they got to the scene with the two guys in the Pontiac Fiero rigged to go into outer space:

But then I realized I was home already, so I just turned off the set and went to sleep.

Somebody convince me this is not the stupidest scene in any major studio film made in the last 10 years.

For the life of me, I can’t get into this film. I’ve tried multiple times, but it just does nothing for me.

Yeah. I think it's a watchable movie but far from the great film its current reputation implies.

La Jetee. Yes, there was only another 13 minutes to go. Surely worth sticking around until the end.
