Yeah, it was a huge Top-60 hit, peaking at #53 in the USA. ;)
However, it failed to chart at all in Britain, but that was due to a technicality---namely, that people thought the song stunk ... :hide:

    Dream Away.
And the title track if there is room for one more, or you need one from each solo LP, and you are trying to forget Extra Texture exists.

Greece is one of my favorites. But I would go for "That's The Way It Goes". Don't agree about "Dream Away".

Dream Away, but it would really need to be the closer.

Underrated album. Some of the production choices sound real dated, and not every track is a winner but there’s enough meat on it that I quite enjoy a listen to it every now and then. “Dream Away” is my first choice followed by “That’s The Way It Goes.”

I put Mystical One on my own Best of George disc. It's really the only song on the album that I like.

  10. Mystical One is a very underrated track in my opinion and deserved a better fate than to be lost in a quite nice, but obscure album. To my ears, it could have been released as a single. Great ballad with a very smart arrangement.

  12. They are all great songs and a great vibe. The nose candy going around must of been pretty good.

I agree Gone Troppo is an underated album. It showcases the Harrison trademark natural sound (after Spector, before Lynne), which I love. Plenty of great slide guitar!

  16. Mystical One gets my vote. My favorite song on Gone Troppo.

Okay, so it wasn't a big hit, but it did chart at #53 on the Billboard Hot 100. Perhaps he would have had a bigger hit if they would have released "Dream Away" or "That's the Way It Goes" as a single instead?

    I love Gone Troppo

I'd be satisfied with any of the following to represent the album:

    Gone Troppo
    Circles
    Mystical One
    That's The Way It Goes
    Really Love You

None of the above. I will have further comments in the George album-by-album thread at the appropriate time.

A close call between 'Mystical One' and 'That's the Way it Goes'. In the end I went for 'Mystical One'. Didn't Olivia say that was one of her favourite songs? Or maybe she said it was one of George's favourite songs. George was having fun on this album.

Unknown Delight.. one of my favorites.

Darkest deep brown eyes I've seen
    Angel came into my dream
    Like the morning's early light
    You freshen all around
And with all the love you bring unknown delight

That song gets me every time.
People seem to forget, this album didnt chart, because it had literraly ZERO promotion, Anything. Not even a interview.
I could see George making at least a couple of tunes (Thats The Way It goes definetely) a top 20 hit if he made a videoclip and did a little bit of promotion.

I wish there was a “none of the songs” option. Wow, what a weak album.

Gonne Troppo is the best of George’s worst albums.

One of my favourite of George's albums. Bought on cassette in Liverpool when I was 13 not too long after it was released. Listened to it on my walkman. Hadn't read any reviews - were there any? Liked it because I liked it. I voted for 'I Really Love You'. Stood out on the album. Makes me smile. I could also have gone with 'Wake Up My Love', "Circles', 'Greece' and a few others.
