Agree. Hindsight 20/20 and all that.

People like to blame "I Want to Break Free" for Queen's decline in the US, which ignores that a) their decline in the US began years earlier, and b) US audiences weren't averse to musicians in drag.

When "Free" hit the airwaves, Culture Club was one of the biggest bands in the US, and Eurythmics - with the decidedly-masculine-at-the-time Annie Lennox in the lead - were also very popular.

Squier's career declined severely not long after "Rock Me Tonite", so it becomes an easy scapegoat.

Doesn't mean it did kill his career, though. If it was so loathed, why'd the song become a hit?

Ya lost me, chief. What's "generic" about asking the last time I played a specific album?

Really? You must avoid mainstream entertainment. Congrats. I believe there's a Broadway show about her. Rest easy, she's not forgotten.

Probably Kansas, never huge outside the US and only tour small clubs even there now.

Her songs, whether performed by her or not, sure keep getting played.

She had a recurring part, not to mention the theme song, in the Gilmore Girls TV show. That’s been a pretty popular show for some time now.

Kansas appears to be on the same oldies casino/club/state fair circuit as so many other rock acts of the 70s follow.

I admit I never thought Kansas was huge in the US, but they were definitely very successful, and they were able to headline big arenas at their peak!

I stand corrected. I was only vaguely aware of the Broadway show. She was massive in the seventies, then from what I could tell, she disappeared from pop culture for years and years. I was unaware of her recent activities. It was just a name I stopped seeing.

No... That’s not it. Whatever it was, it’s lost. Like it was something in the wind.

    Fair.

She also did a pretty massive tour, and live album/concert film, with James Taylor a few years ago. Total oldies show, obviously, but really good nonetheless.

Alice was pretty big and was having hits at the dawn and into the 90’s.

    My contributions:

    Dr. Hook
Manfred Mann’s Earth Band (excellent band, pains me to say this)
    10cc (same thing)
    Supertramp (same)

All the early Chicago albums from 1969-1977 recorded with original founding members of the band, including the great unsung guitar great Terry Kath, and produced by James William Guercio were a big factor in their induction into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Three Dog Night have been snubbed by the Rock and Roll Hall committee just because they did not write their own songs but they recorded those songs in their own unique style making them sound fresh and original. If not for them, those songs would have remained obscured.
