Don't know if he was fired or just moved on his own but Cozy Powell went from Rainbow to MSG to Whitesnake to ELP and had I think 2 different stints in Black Sabbath.

  2. Powell left most of those of his own accord. I think the answer is Glenn Hughes, back when he was still using. Deep Purple kind of broke up rather than him being fired. But he was going to be fired. Later, he was fired from Tony Iommi's Black Sabbath. Then he was fired from Gary Moore's band.

Another great singer, Ray Gillen, was fired from Tony Iommi's Black Sabbath, Blue Murder, and then from Badlands. Amazing given that he was a gifted vocalist.

Either way, if he was kicked out, that's only ONE band he was kicked out of. Which is not saying much.

That's not an answer to the question posed.

My first thought was Gram Parsons... my second thought was drummer Aynsley Dunbar (I'm probably misspelling his first name), but I don't know if Dunbar quit or got fired.

  7. Disagree. And I know quite a few musicians. But you're right that it's not "unheard of."

Dunbar would certainly be a contender if fired. He sure enough had talent. Checking Wikipedia it only mentions he was fired from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers though. No reasons are given for his parting with other bands, and there were many impressive names listed. Also yes you did spell his name correctly.

There was an Aussie guitarist called Gunther Gorman who used to play in bands in the mid 70's who were between members. He was concurrently in about eight or nine bands.

Glen didn't have a drinking problem. He had a cocaine problem.

Pretty good band to get kicked out off though.

  14. Was he fired from any of them?
