If Rock was dead all my new records would be fading like the picture of Marty Mcflys parents.

If Rock was dead nothing would prove how lame hip hop is. And Hip Hop is freakin lame.

    Long Live FUZZ!

  2. It’s not dead-it’s just that other musical trends & styles have overtaken it.

How many records from 2010-2020 can you list as having heard in full anyways though to give you the confidence in writing all of it off in one fell swoop?

I think we are confusing "I personally prefer the music made 40-50 years ago" to "anything made afterwords objectively is lesser"

Perhaps a corollary thought, but I suspect personal due diligence is just too much heavy lifting for some who would prefer the old paradigm of a few big record companies acting as surrogate taste testers before offering a reduced menu from a handful of over-broad genres that they find easier to market. Give me thousands of unvetted acts from around the world with a half-dozen genre tags each on Bandcamp and I'll pick my own winners.

I saw Inhaler live just pre-covid. Excellent. The apple hasn't fallen very far from the tree. :)

You might be surprised. Many rock gigs I go to have an audience that mostly consists of people who look like twenty somethings or younger.

Truer words have never been spoken.....once music gets recorded and commercially released, it becomes somewhat mainstream and commercial ....

Because the Studios got almost endless of tracks in the 70’s so you could add layer after layer with instruments and singing, ending up sounding like Queen, Boston, Eagles, Supertramp etc?

Yep digital samples of real music and autotune voices to create bass tracks... genius.

Yeah your right, they’re listening to samples of real bands like Rival Sons with autotune voices through their phone speaker. I wouldn’t crank that either.

A lot of great bands coming out of North America though, and that's just the ones I've managed to stumble upon from 3000 miles away. If the mainstream media ever decided to show a little support, I'm convinced that many of these bands would find a large and receptive audience.
