Absolutely; I don't get why some people diss HKG the way they do, stating it's ¨not a typical SATB song¨or ¨too poppy for the period¨. Same people who want to listen to the same drivel over and over, with no variation whatsoever I guess:). To me, it was -and still is- a refreshing and different song, and a HUGE single.

Superstition; I bought it blindly for the singles but was hooked upon first play, and my opinion about it never changed; even the ballads are mesmerizing ! OAN I own the original UK PDO CD releaze, and it never bronzed !!:)

the children screaming/being noisy in "Pulled To Bits" B-side version absolutely ruins the song and is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread title. Later live versions - much better.

I hadn't noticed your location bro ! I met Mrs. Ballion in '95, at a rock disco after her Buenos Aires gig. An incredibly charming lady.

She did, just that once. You're out of luck for she's musically retired after her Mantaray tour flopped.

Now THAT's a love or hate affair (love to me). The accordion riffs and backwards brass arrangements are mind-bending, almost acid-like.

It was the song that hooked me into S&B back in 1983 and so I think its still holds up despite it's popularity at the time. The goths must have loved it still when I went to uni 8 years later as it was the #1 song on the union bar's juke box right up until I left.

Dear Prudence was one of the first S&B songs I heard as well. Along with The Passenger which IMO is way better than Iggy’s version.

They have a handful of average tracks but which are vastly outweighed by all the good ones. "Swimming Horses" was a slightly disappointing follow up single (for me at least) to the brilliant "Dear Prudence". Cue a comment from that angry forum member who just won't accept that people have different tastes and may prefer their version to the Beatles' original...

Ha, I think "Swimming Horses" is one of their greatest achievements. No knock on "Dear Prudence," which is a perfectly reasonable cover.

I bought The Rapture on release and I’ve always really liked it, if you want to hear a really bad Banshees album try and sit through the whole of Seven Year Itch, I saw them on that tour in Glasgow and it was awful, Siouxsie’s voice was shot, although when I saw her in DC in 2004 it had improved.

Personally I thought Mantaray was very disappointing.

Fun fact first time I saw the Banshees a little local band called Simple Minds opened for them.....

Lord's Pray is definitely up there. Personally, I can't stand Christine.

Yeah, Kaleidoscope is their best record but that song blows a bit.

The tour was good even though I'm not a fan of the album.
Love this song and it's corresponding album even though in 1988 it felt like old wine in new bottles.
