Wrecking Crew bassist Joe Osborn 1937-2018 RIP.

Joe Osborn looms large in the soundtrack of my life. I especially thank him for his superlative work on Johnny Rivers' Realization album. Look To Your Soul would have been a much lesser recording without his contribution. Many thanks, Joe for bringing joy to my life.

RIP. I like quite a few songs and albums he played on in the 60s. I like this album with him involved:

The Ceyleib People - Tanyet

 

This one belongs here....one of the first time I really heard that a bass could ADD something graceful and melodic to a tune.

 

His bass is what drives this track:

 

Joe played on almost every Carpenters record ever, so for me, it's fitting that he is still a big part of the following, with the original tracks (including Joe's contributions) recorded back in the early '70's, but just newly revisited on the brand new collection "Carpenters with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra", which I believe that Joe would appreciate today.
