Blast from the past! Loved Home but why only the first two? Assume The Alchemist was a bit more heavy rock but just speculating as to its exclusion. One of my all time favourite concept albums. Playing Fancy Lady, Hollywood child as typing this and is up there with the best country rock songs for me from their Home album. Managed to catch Home supporting Wishbone Ash in 1973 where they played The Alchemist in full and regularly play all their stuff. Great choice mate.

  5. For those folks who would not include The Marshall Tucker Band in a list of Country Rock artists, I give you exhibit A: Desert Skies -swingin', jazzy and very country.

Carolina Dreams might be MTB at their country-rocking peak.

Surprised to see little mention of John Prine in here, but perhaps he's best catergorized under folk/singer-songwriter.

Marshall Tucker were country rock and so many other things besides.

And yet their music always sounded coherent. Neat trick!

Tucker was so underrated imo. Desert skies is a perfect example!!
Toy and tommy Caldwell both finger picked because there father played banjo. Listen to Tommy’s bass. Straight county. Toys playing is amplified bob wills/Chet Atkins/Roy Clark all rolled into 1.amazing band

Not a huge fan of the 60s/70s version of country rock, so my 3 top picks are coming from a later period:

    Joe Ely Band
    Steve Earle and the Dukes
    Jason and the Scorchers
