It was indeed, and a legendary film and cast. However, I was just paraphrasing the Seinfeld line when he burns Newman.

    Technically the 1980s were from January 1, 1981 to December 31, 1990.

But that is semantics. I was only joking. Please do not take anything I say in a these threads too seriously.

Die Hard: probably the most influential action movie of the last 30 years. How many action movies that followed it were summed up as "Die Hard on a bus...a boat...a plane...etc".

Lethal Weapon 2: A terrific movie gets an even better sequel. The ultimate buddy cop movie.

Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Casablanca of action movies. Spielberg directs, Lucas signs the checks, Ford beats up Nazis, everyone goes home happy.

Aliens: I've never heard a movie audience shout so loud then when Ripley yells at the Alien Queen "Get away from her you, BITCH!".

The Terminator - not even close It gets extra points for how grimy and cheap it looks.

A very good decade for action films!

For the Us it's RoboCop for me too.
It was so shocking in so many ways
    • The STUPIDEST name possible
    • The most violent begining of any film I had seen up to that point
    • The military industrial complex
    • The obvious parallels with Vietnam
    • Exploring what it means to be human
    • The newscasts and commercials being SATIRE back then, and fact now. The 6000SUX
    • Ed-209
    • So many quotable lines
    Just an amazing film.

    Well, somebody got machine-gunned...
    Somebody was tortured to death....
Maybe we should redefine "action movie".
