You don't have to post a big list all at once. Just add some favorite tunes/pieces whenever you think of them.

Since we have a lot of audiophiles on the board, feel free to recommend some of your favorite recordings of the music you list.

Gioachino Rossini - Il pianto d'armonia sulla morte di Orfeo (1808)

As with many classical composers, this is a very impressive work written when Rossini was still a teen.

here's a recording I've never heard before. according to the uploader, its performed by the Orchestra of the Gulbenkian Foundation, Michel Swierczewski conducting. I did not follow the link provided to the blogspot for info on a date.

this is Symphony No. 1 in G minor written by French composer Étienne Nicolas Méhul, who is famous as a Revolution-period opera composer.

(in my library is a recording by Les Musiciens du Louvre, Marc Minkowski conducting from 199O)

It is interesting to compare this performance with the one I posted above by Orchestra of the Gulbenkian Foundation. let us know how you experience the two and what differences you notice. Also, tell if there are other renditions of Méhul' s Symphony No. 1 in G minor you are fond of.
