For adventure/sci-fi ....
Planet Of The Apes (1968)
2001. Or perhaps Silent Running.
Best scene for me was Dreyfuss in the car and the spaceship going over his head.
E.T. the Extraterrestrial
Children of Men
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
Planet of the Apes
Children Of Men
Is my favourite 21st Century SCi fi. film.
Starting to like you more and more.
Conquest was always my favorite Apes film. Even as a 12 year old I had a gut feeling it was futzed with and soon after seeing it I found out it was. The 2008 bluray was close to the original cut shown at Phoenix Arizona preview but still wanting.
The series as I post adnausem needs and had a new 2k 4k (hdr? )(sound mix? ) remastering so to put this series to bed once and for all.
Disney shows an interest in the new continuing Apes saga so how about doing a " 2001 "like 4k release of apes. Yeah they only care about streaming? The new 4k hdr remasters of classic films look great and the Apes films from what I heard look wonderful since they were done a year or two ago. Thanks, John M.
Also The Matrix
Don’t know if you like LOST tv series, but composer Michael Ginacchino (who did latest Apes score) has Ape like musical elements in his LOST score no doubt derived from Jerry Goldsmith orig version.
New one being made ...The Matrix 4.
Is Neo now Nea?
My top 4:
2001 - A space odyssey
Doris Wishman's 1961 classic Nude on the Moon.
I'm delighted that several posters have already mentioned CE3K, which is my all-time favorite, although I like the original release better than the Director's Cut or whatever it was called..........
Dreyfuss’s character enters alien spacecraft you see more inside ship.
It sometimes gets tricky deciding what's sci-fi vs. horror but here's a few of mine:
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Quatermas and the Pit
Planet of the Apes and Beneath the Planet of the Apes
Godzilla (1954), although I could list several from the Toho franchise
The Incredible Shrinking Man
The Last Man On Earth (1964)
Day of the Triffids
I'm sure I'll think of others as soon as I hit 'post reply'.
Of those, thinking 2001 gets the nod.
blade runner/2001 dead heat...
Children of men
things to come
A ripoff of
Favorite influential SF film: 2001: A Space Odyssey
Favorite under-rated SF film: David Lynch's Dune
Honorable mention for most accurate prediction of mankind's future: Soylent Green
What else needs to be said?
Only asking for one film folks, but a list is fine.
2001 or Blade Runner. Not sure in which order.
Separate names with a comma.
