I had one of these in 1984. Preferred it to the LP12 I replaced it with to be honest.... (I had a RB300 on mine).
My Yamaha YP-D6 which has been my loyal and devoted musical conductor since 1979 or 80. NEVER a problem with it in all these years. (Not my table in the photo).
Definitely not a top tier record player but I've been running a Dual CS5000 for some 10 years now. I've tried several different cartridges, settling on an Ortofon OM20 with a BLISS Shibata stylus. It's a daily listener, providing background music on the shared family stereo system. It does sound quite good - balanced - but isn't the most detailed thing around; which is perfect for less-than-stellar recordings. Everything from old Billie Holiday to rock to Viking folk music is enjoyable. My Thorens TD309 with Ortofon Bronze outclasses it in every measure but it doesn't have a semi-automatic arm! So the Dual gets more use since it is a walk away kind of turntable.
My father's old Garrard idler was lovely, and my current VN150 really lights me up, but the fondest memories are of the TD150 I had through the seventies and well into the eighties. With its M91ed it made a lot of magic.
Mine is a Rega RP6. It was the first turntable I heard that seemed to disappear. I’ve since learned that part of that was setup and a quality cartridge. But what an enjoyable turntable to live with.
Same boat here. TD-124's. One with a custom EMT 997 12' arm. The other with an Ortofon RS-212 arm. I'll also add a Sota Sapphire with an Eminent Tech ET2 tonearm and Hana SL cartridge. A true pleasure to use.
Custom designed and built just for me to my specs by the uber talented Steve Frosten. Mated to a Denon DL301MKII and it was a little slice of audio heaven. My progressive illness sadly forced me to sell it ... thankfully it serves on with a young audio friend of mine.
never owned one but the cool factor on a michell gyro se is up there. favorite table owned is my current Technics 1200 GR. i had a P-mount technics mid 80's that sounded very good with an AT boron cantilever shibata cartridge. if I would have bought a conventional mount i would probably still have it.
I dream of finding a heavy-plattered idler drive at a garage sale. In the meantime, this heavy-plattered belt drive Mission 775S is doing the trick. It is special to me because it is the first table that I put a separate tonearm on, a Grace G-707.
Re-capped my DP-62L a few years ago and it’s ready for another 25 years. I’ve owned others (Rega and Technics for the most part) but the Denon turntables from the early 80s are my favorite.
Thank you - I have said many many times before, "We can't often control what enters our lives....but we can always control our response to it" I have had to make many adjustments over the years (as has my lovely bride of 36 years) because of my illness....the turntable was another adjustment that had to be made. I focus on living...not on what I have lost
