I always enjoyed Zardoz. A remake would be interesting.
My particular favorites in the movie were the 'apathetics' who, in the final carnage, were the most active in destroying the place.

John Alderton was very good. The end got a wee bit silly. :)

Ugh. That would work as well as the remake of "Wicker Man" he starred in.

Yes, that's true. A Zardoz remake would work methinks.

Just don't dress him in the outfit that Connery wore.

Have to be waxed then. Cage is one hirsute dude. :)

So the fate of mankind will come down the last remaining women breeding with Nicholas Cage to propagate the species? Just say: "NO", humanity!

Nic would be up for it. :)

  15. Love the faux Criterion. Seems to me this cult film wold be perfect for them. It's an odd mixture of 70's science fiction with an almost art house sensibility.

Here's my 1/2 sheet theatrical poster hanging on the wall in my study. Always loved the tag line and poster.

Poster must be worth a pretty penny.
This has better potential in tbe remake stakes than The Planet Of The Apes.

  18. Not sure. I bought it ages ago when I was living in Los Angeles looking for posters. The Hitchcock Frenzy poster bit the dust ages ago during a move but Zardoz, A Clockwork Orange (the Italian 1/2 sheet), Raiders of the Lost Ark full sheet all survived long enough to finally get framed.

I keep intending to pull the DVD out and rewatch it. I love early-70s sci-fi, before Star Wars came in and everything had to be full of spaceships, robots, and battles.

Zardoz is purty good for a forty year film, enjoy.

  23. Nope. Starburns. He's still got a couple days left on the rental...

Love this movie. His outfit alone almost ruins it, but there is so much interesting stuff otherwise.

It really needs re-mastered in HD, and put out on blu ray!
