Nice lead on the free download. Listened to twice this morning, this will be a go-to for me, particularly for background music at work that is just engaging enough to keep me interested.
Deserves to be on any ambient fan's short list. Or at least, sitting unobtrusively back there in the corner, where you don't notice it, until you realize it's been there all the time. Also, I love what Jon Hassel does with his horn, blowing over the mouthpiece like winds through grassy plains; seek out his ouvre. Eno's Ambient 4, of course...but he's got others.
The first Phonophani. Actually the only Phonophani album I really like. Espen Sommer Eide, one half of Alog. released on Biosphere' Geir Jenssen' label Biophon in 1998
Odysmod - Cycladic -- described as "Improvisations with vintage synthesizers and a piano", kinda reminds me of the Budd/Eno collaborations featuring reverb piano floating above drones. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff
Steve Roach - Back To Life -- a 2xCD album, mostly beatless burbles and tribal sounds. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp (for a limited time). --Geoff
57 pieces, over 7 hours of music for as little as a dollar, how can you go wrong??? There is a lot to absorb here. I went immediately to sample some Markus Guentner because his album covers on Discogs were intriguing and his works alone are worth the price of admission. Moved on to the tune above, right up my alley. Thanks for the terrific recommendation!
Selections: Deborah Martin - a "name your price" download on Bandcamp. Selections: Deborah Martin (a name-your-price collection), by Deborah Martin Apparently an owner-partner in the Spotted Peccary label. Fine music, the first track is a bit more new-agey than ambient (and well done) but the second song is worth the price of admission. This label deserves much attention, as apparently does Deborah Martin as an artist.
Uk artist - Kevin Kendle Born in 1966, Kevin has been making music from a young age, and these days is best-known for his "intelligent new age" music on his own label, Eventide Music. As well as releasing material under his own name, he has contributed downtempo and chill music to compilations such as Disky's "Buddha Experience" series. If you like the 'Buddha Bar' chill CDs, then you owe yourself to listen to some of Kevin's work. This Beautiful track very similar in style to the music on Steve Hillage Album - Music Dome Rainbow Kevin Kendle -Dance of Electra ( from his 2008 album : Deep Skies 3 - Light From The Pleiades
Name your price download (appears to be for a limited time), Threshold Point, by Erik Wollo Absolutely loving this one, will seek it out on CD. Quite a bit going on beyond ambient noodling (not that there's anything wrong with ambient noodling, I like that too!). Erik Wøllo – Threshold Point Label: Projekt – PROJEKT351 Format: 9 × File, FLAC, Album Country: US Released: 11 Apr 2018 Genre: Electronic Style: Ambient, Downtempo
Ambient Isles - The Long Seasoned Sleep 2018, Koen Music Nice release from a small record label out of Itabashi, Japan... This one is really interesting and features Ian Hawgood. It has a nice variation throughout, with pop elements and other surprises mixed in.
A recent discovery (Berlin school): Pollard/Daniel/Booth Eight (current most recent release as of this writing) is certainly a worthy starting point, as is 3, but I will be getting their entire discography at some point, having enjoyed it all via Bandcamp.
I have been really liking this one. By Tangerine Dream. The other 2 sessions discs are really nice also.
AGHAST -- Hexerei im Zwielicht der Finsternis 1995 Cold Meat Industry label ( Sweden ) //// Andrea Haugen ( Norway ) and Tanja Stene ( Germany Dark ambient with "witches" voices - the music/vocals creates a scary atmosphere and also beauty. Aghast - Call from the Grave
Super Secret Symphony Number One Arecibo - The Four Second Timing Discrepancy Dreamworld - Beneath Silence and Storm (Part 1) Solitaire - Black Cloud Modula Green - Clusterbend Deathprod - Recording The Jürg Mager Trio- A Shortcut To The Stars
While not exactly Ambient, it sure sets a mood. And the mood is that you are In the gardens of Pharaoh. It is a cold feeling, like you are in an open temple, not dark, but in the shadows. It starts with the river water flowing by, rustling through the bull rushes. Then the Pharaoh's percussionist began a somewhat mesmerizing beat, and boy do they get into it. The sounds mix with the water, echoing through the temple, until at last the Pharaoh himself seems to make an appearance. You can tell he is there because the air seems to sparkle and shine with his presence. For how rapid the beat is, there is also a cool feeling of calmness to the sound. Pharaoh moves on into the temple and the padding of the skins follows him, until you are left with the serene flow of water again. * If you have never had the pleasure of listening to this, make the time. Kick back, light some incense and let your mind drift 4 thousand years into the past.
