Getting Blade Runner on cd was one of the best purchases I've made.

I really liked Direct. In the Vangelis Album by Album thread here in the forum it seemed very well-received. My only real issue with it is the surplus of very-dated '80s sounds it's saturated with - synths and production. But you're right in that in addition to being very contemporary in sound, stylistically it's also kind of a trip thru Vangelisland, even including the Jon & Vangelis collaborations.

I'm curious if anyone has compared mastering / sound quality for the Music On Vinyl pressing verses the older Japan vinyl pressing of Antarctica.

    But what is the title?
Late nights I have been listening to ?-?-? recently which is hardly one to be categorized as easy listening being so sparse
    and totally devoid of anything even closely resembling a melody though it does stir the imagination somewhat;

Perfect for a subterranean world inhabited by strange biofluorescent creatures
casting shimmering light against the walls and pools of vast cavernous voids.

Actually or apparently inspired by the architecture of the Pompidou Centre in Paris. :)

I've been digging thru what is called "The Tegos Tapes". Check youtube for it. I think I've gotten thru the first hour. Great for chilling out on the road.
Maybe one day arrangements will be made with the videotape publisher and an extract CD compilation could be made.

Haven't listened to much of his stuff but I absolutely adore this song.

Lots of escellent music to enjoy. Not a fan as such, but someone who admires great music when I hear it. That doesn´t descrobe all of his music, IMO, but a lot of it.

Just got a sealed French 1st of 'l'apocalypse des Animaux' and am overjoyed -- even looking at the sleeve of this LP takes me elsewhere. That thrill is a measure of how much I love this LP, as I bought it in what has effectively been the sh1ttiest week of my entire life...

666 is one of the scariest concept albums ever made. Not what I'd call soothing but still great.

This is I think one of the most forgotten tracks from any selection of Vangelis historical masterpieces:

    .
EDIT: It's just a FAN-TAS-TIC piece of music, by the way.

Big fan. My favorite records: Alexander, two albums with Irene Papas (especially Rapsodies) and of course L'Apocalypse des animaux. I enjoy reading ancient history a lot and Vangelis has provided the perfect soundtrack.

Me too, but I do not have any of those. I use Invisible Connections, China, The City and Blade Runner the most for reading.
Beauborg is a bit too jarring for that.

Heaven & Hell would be pretty good for a history reading. Also Opera Sauvage, Mask, the Chariots soundtrack and Soil Festivities.

    Beauborg needs a 5.1 mix.

No - an Atmos mix. Why wait for aesthetics to catch up...

I've always wondered how a Brian Eno / Vangelis collaboration would work....
