Exile on Main Street — 2020 half speed vinyl

Has anyone given this a serious listen? I only learned of the release by stumbling upon a positive review on YouTube. Almost all other fora have nothing but good things to say. But here, my go-to, I was surprised to find nothing. (Perhaps I missed it.) So I used the matter as a long overdue reason to join. EOMS is one of my all time favorite records. But I’ve ever heard a decent recording. Please share thoughts. (By the way, feel free to chime in on the 2030 Emotional Rescue as well.). Thanks!

Wow, who would have thought the general public could come across such a deep thinker on a music forum, skimming posts for typos to expose and ridicule, in between translating Wittgenstein from the original German, I suspect. Ok, “2020.” There. We are all deeply indebted to you for your keen insights and righteous irreverence. Any way we can get you to work on this COVID thing? The world needs you, ASAP.

The half speed sounds pretty good to me, but to my ears it really doesn't sound much like the original, for better and worse. Just my opinion!

 

I have it, have only had time to give it a cursory listen, positive initial impressions, but haven't delved into it yet. As is the case with a lot of my other stuff, I have a beat-up original so it's nice to have a fresh copy. I've got a growing list of stuff I really need to sit down and listen to.

 

This is a very good to excellent version. Buy with confidence!

 

The 2030 Emotional Rescue will have a cassette only release.

Take a quick look at the previous threads on this pressing. Personally, I think that any original pressing - look for the “Artisan” logo - and “A” with an overlapping Oval is much better than the half speed master.
