In my opinion things start getting REALLY good after the first 3 albums. They're honestly the ones I listen to least.
You might want to listen to I Won't Be The Same Without Her from Instant Replay. Recorded around the same time as the first version of You Just May Be The One.
I honestly can't remember where I got it but I'm sure somewhere here can direct you to the right place.
I purchased the first three albums as a 13 yo. I did not say I listen to them anymore. On my list only Im a believer is the only one from the first two. I don't want to hurt anyone 's feelings but there is a lot better music out there than the Monkees . I might as well go find the 1966 batman theme I purchased as a 45.
No problem. You enjoy your music, and I will enjoy mine. By the way, I also enjoy classical music, some older jazz, Chicago, The Beatles, and many others. Just because I enjoy Monkees music doesn't mean I don't listen to other music. I also have been playing trumpet for most my life, and Monkees music helped spark my lifelong live of music...
That is funny . my 17 yo sister tried to talk me into buying 19th nervous breakdown but I insisted on the batman theme.
Willy, thanks for posting that. Kind of astonishing, with the Phenomenal Sales of the first album, that they didnt take better care of the multi tracks. But your post does show that they could do a fully remixed "More of The Monkees", and just use the best stereo master of "Knocking" that they have. I would absolutely buy that if they offered it. And maybe they'd even put the remixed "I'm A Believer" on the Cd and not on a 45!
Considered by who? I think you would find wildly varying opinions on that if you asked Monkees Fans across the board.
I have every box - except the Blu-Ray set (I'm not crazy about the show) and find enjoyment in each one. Least favorite is the Live Box. For the record - I have HQ Sessions #3096 & MOTM #964 I hope they don't include the Sessions material in an HQ Super Deluxe. I want new stuff! More of these vocal overdub sessions would do me fine!
"Generally considered' doesn't mean everyone feels that way. But he's absolutely correct. If we conducted a poll here at SH Forums asking people their favorite Monkees album (and we got a large number of responses), I'm pretty sure PAC&J would win handily. Although Headquarters would no doubt elicit its fair share of support, as well. EDIT: LOL, I see such a survey was already conducted. The results are almost exactly what I would have predicted.
110 for "Pisces", "Headquarters" next with 67. "Pisces" by a wide margin. Interestingly enough, "More of" comes in third.
Which Batman theme? It's cool. Not sure why you came in here saying you liked some of their stuff, then said you really liked Headquarters, and now you're putting them down. Sure, there's plenty of good music out there. Some of it is better than the Monkees. Sure. What's your thoughts on the Super Deluxe More of the Monkees box? Are you in the right thread? The forum is fairly easy to navigate to find the music you can hold your pinky up to and eat chicken legs with a fork and knife.
I remember him. In a related development, rjp was back at it, bashing the Monkees in a thread about songs of 1967 the other day.
Headquarters is,a solid as album. I guess I don't think every track from 7 or eight albums are great. Please explain how to navigate threads. Are you saying you should only enter the thread to worship or praise that topic.
